High School Masonry Day

Registration: 8:15 - 8:45AM
Stations: 8:50AM - 1:30PM
About the Day
+ Students will rotate through 12 stations (15 minutes each) in small groups
+ Stations include masonry tools, tuckpointing, masonry products, scaffolding, heavy equipment, mixing mortar, bricklaying and more!
+ Registration includes lunch, snack & t-shirt - there is no cost to attend!
+ Please dress for bricklaying - clothes that can get dirty, no shorts/sandals!
+ Excellent opportunity to explore masonry and the skilled trades in a fun, hands-on way!

Once you have registered, a detailed email will be sent to your school's contact, detailing how the day will work, timeframe, parking, directions and more! Please note each student will need to have a liability waiver filled out. Please bring these completed documents to registration.

MII is available to present to your industrial tech class!
Depending on time of year and location, MII can arrange bricklaying demos, job site tours, production tours and lecture. Presentations can range from one hour to six hours (on multiple days). Contact Jenny Stephenson at 515-979-8235 or email@example.com.

2018 State Masonry Contest Results
MII is pleased to be associated with SkillsUSA Iowa Chapter. This year that five high school students signed up and four participated during the state competition on Friday, April 27 at the Dallas Co. Fairgrounds in Adel.
The contest included a 25 question written test and the building of a masonry wall. Judging then judged entries based on pre-determined criteria. Winners are listed below.
1st Place: Jordan, Belmond-Klemme HS
2nd Place: Karter, Belmond-Klemme HS
3rd Place: TJ, Perry HS
4th Place: Tyson, Belmond-Klemme HS
